One thing I noticed working in the Bronx is that leaders come in the craziest places. They don’t always show up at community board meetings. Sometimes it’s just the guys on the corner that the boys on the block respect.
One Thing
When you argue with your inferiors, you convince them of only one thing: they are as clever as you.
I am the wisest man alive, for I know one thing, and that is that I know nothing.
One must look for one thing only, to find many.
For we must be one thing or the other, an asset or a liability, the sinew in your wing to help you soar, or the chain to bind you to earth.
But whether the Constitution really be one thing, or another, this much is certain – that it has either authorized such a government as we have had, or has been powerless to prevent it. In either case, it is unfit to exist.
To the mass of mankind – meaning also womankind – marriage may be the only possible thing; but to the individual, it may be the one thing impossible.
The law was made for one thing alone, for the exploitation of those who don’t understand it, or are prevented by naked misery from obeying it.
It was one thing to contain the Soviet Union in Europe because Britain, France, and Germany were all willing to join in. But will Japan and other Asian countries be willing to join in the containment of China?
Purity of heart is to will one thing.
